Nestlé has committed USD 26,000 in 2007 for a women’s rural community project to help them improve farm productivity through subsistence farming in Kenya.
Through financial and technical assistance, Nestlé is helping women in Nakuru, one of the towns in the Kenyan countryside to increase animal breeding. Nestlé is fully funding this project, and has disbursed USD 7300 in 2007 for the completion of Phase 1 and part of Phase 2.
During the year 2008-2009, phases 2 and 3 will be completed. The other partners are UN Volunteers, nabuur.com, AVIF Volunteers in Kenya, Minifarms, Sida and Hivos.
