The protection of the environment in the last year has fully respected the principles envisaged in our Environmental Policy, and it has been implemented by a System of Environmental Management.
One of the most important goals set in the corporate sector has been the 3% reduction in the consumption of energy per produced ton compared to the year 2003. The adoption of rationalization measures in our units resulted in an effective saving of 7.4%. This achievement contributes to the conservation of the resource, with a direct implication in the decrease of gas emissions which produce the greenhouse effect.
Our policy about water sets very clear ideas as regards the reduction in its consumption. The rationalization of its use and the permanent control of the consumptions have led to a 27% reduction of its use per produced ton in 2004, compared to 2003.
Our intention is to bring our systems into line with the international standards has led to the formation of environmental management which respect the requirements of the ISO Standard 14001. This is one of our objectives for 2005, along with a 5% reduction in the consumption of energy per produced ton and a 3% reduction in the consumption of water.
Our company’s adherence to the Global Agreement has become an additional commitment to the fulfillment of the principles related to Environmental care set forth in this Agreement and it is one of the backbones of our Social Responsibility.
