“Eco de los Andes” plant is in Tunuyán, a town located in the province of Mendoza 1100 KM from Buenos Aires.

The plant extracts water from that aquifer which is surrounded by 112.500 hectares of farms used for crop. The project was selected for support in order to preserve the water resource. The goals are prevention, early identification of trends in quality and quantity of water in the aquifer and to limit the possible actions in the zone which could cause a negative impact on the aquifer. Nestlé, local team started to work with the authorities on the definition of a set of rules, based on UE regulation, for all the aquifer users.

Finally, in April 2002 an Aquifer Protection resolution was published. The main impact of this will be in future generations.
