Tezonapa is a Microregion, located in the state of Veracruz in the southeastern part of Mexico, that was identified in 2001, as one of the 250 poorest places of the country. It is also, an important producer of Robusta Coffee one of the key raw materials of Nestle Mexico.

In response to a call from the Federal Government, Nestle started its green coffee technical assistance program in the area that year. Since then, more than 1,500 coffee growers from 60 communities have benefited. Today there are more than 28 active coffee nurseries.
Together with the State Government, Nestle participated and funded several other community projects such as building the Tele Secondary School and the Distribution Water System both located in Limonestitla.
In 2006, Nestle decided to continue expanding its presence in the zone by establishing the Centro Comunitario Nestle in alliance with Fondo para Niños de México, A.C. The idea behind this new project was to achieve a greater impact, not only on the producers but also, on its families, using a proven method of communitarian development in use for more than 30 years in other 7 states of the country by this organization.
The center gives complementary services of education, health, dentistry and infant stimulation, working with leading members of the community, such as mothers, teachers and young students who are trained in different programs. More than 1,000 kids are active beneficiaries.
