On 15 August, at 6:40 pm (local time), Peru was hit by an earthquake
Consequences of the earthquake
• 35,500 people affected
• 5,000 families affected
• 45,000 homes affected or destroyed
• 1,500 wounded (80% in Ica and Pisco)
• 550 deaths (85% in Ica and Pisco)
• Utilities affected: Electricity, water and telephone.
NESTLE PERU DONATIONS
Nestlé decided to help those affected by the earthquake, and has made three donations so far, and given special support to our sales force in the affected areas.
First donation
28 tonnes, 6 water cisterns. Donations were supplied to three organisations to accelerate the delivery process. These were: MUNICIPALITY OF LIMA, MINISTRY FOR WOMEN AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS
Second Donation (Nestlé Peru and L’Oreal joined forced for the second donation)
This donation was delivered to the Lima Chamber of Commerce and consisted of 20 tonnes of products.
Third donation
The third donation was made by the Purina unit and consisted of 2,200 kilos of balanced food for pets, which were delivered to the ASPPA (Peruvian Association for the Protection of Animals).
All Nestlé collaborations were organised internally and three tons of clothes and goods were collected.
