In some areas in the country, clean water has long been a valuable commodity that only a few of the better-off people have been able to enjoy. To date, some people have been forced to use contaminated river water for drinking. They also have to bathe and wash their clothes in the river, and are forced practice open defecation in their plantations.
The objective is to provide access to clean water and sanitation facilities in order to improve community health, to promote healthy life style and to reduce sickness rate caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.
This is a 6 months program (1 September 2008 – 1 February 2009) in collaboration with The Indonesian Red Cross.
