Nestlé’s fresh chilli contract farming has been ongoing since the early 90s. Much effort has been centred on long-term agricultural sustainability, with emphasis not only on economic viability but with great considerations for the environment too. The close relationship enjoyed with the local farmers, enable Nestlé to educate them on the benefits of an efficient farming systems, which are environment-friendly. Efforts in this area include regular Pesticide Application Technology courses and the practice of zero burning in rice farming.
