The partnership with WWF Malaysia is aimed at creating environmental awareness among the local Setiu community, of the natural riches that lie at their doorsteps as well as to improve their livelihoods through a sustainable development programme that empowers the local women.

In 2006, Nestlé funded a survey of the socio-economic needs and existing conditions of communities in key Setiu villages to identify the capacity building needs of the local communities, particularly the women of Setiu. This year, Nestlé trained 70 local women on basic entrepreneurial skills to sustain the local cottage industry as well as the eco-tourism industry.
