Nestlé supports the government’s Donate-a-Classroom Program to help alleviate the critical shortage of classrooms in the country. Under the program, the Company has to date donated four new classrooms to two public schools.

Nestlé has linkages with reputable educational institutions, offering practical and theoretical training to selected students, in order to help them acquire more relevant and practical industrial skills. The Technical Skills Scholarship Program (TSSP) is a two-year program that combines classroom instruction and hands-on training. Nestlé implements the program in cooperation with Don Bosco College in Canlubang, Laguna. In the Academic Linkage Program, Nestlé provides shop-floor and on-site training to selected students from educational institutions such as the De La Salle University, Dualtech, Meralco Foundation Institute, and the Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro.

Nestlé has also up trust funds and grants with educational institutions with the hope that such assistance will redound to the benefit of less-privileged but deserving students. Institutions receiving grants include the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, University of St. Tomas, University of the East, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippine Science High School, Philippine General Hospital, and the Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines.

In support of the country’s efforts to develop the artistic ability of the youth, the Company’s leading milk powder NIDO has been sponsoring the NIDO Little Artists Workshop every summer since the 1980’s, in coordination with art schools. The workshop teaches children aged 5-12 the basic techniques in visual arts and provides an appropriate vehicle for them to express themselves through art.
