The Internal Wellness program for employees is called ‘I Choose Wellness’. This is a one-year campaign for better nutrition, health and wellness which started in 2003 and includes the following  activities at each worksite and sales office:

Nutrition Counselling- Every other month from Feb to Nov, nutritionists are fielded to the 5 worksites and 9 sales offices to provide free nutrition consultation to each employee. BMI, waist circumference and waist to hip ratio are measured. The nutritionist explains diet, body weight and basic nutrition. This information is kept as a record and is updated every other month to see the progress of the employee.

To date, 55% of Nestle employees have been counselled. When we reach 60%, we will publish the results in Family Balita and post the results per worksite and sales office in the Wellness Bulletin Boards.

Monthly Physical Activity- Every month, different physical activities are offered to employees.  Kickboxing, dancing, retro groove, latin dance, body jam, capoeira, hip-hop dancing, etc.are all available.

Nutrition Information Dissemination - Every two months, themes on nutrition are presented in this journal  -  tips on how to take care of one’s heart, how to lower one’s bad cholesterol, explaining what antioxidants are, how they work and what are the sources of antioxidants: eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day and drinking coffee.  Articles also include milk and the role of calcium, meatless Mondays, encouraging employees to go meatless one day a week and eat more fruits and vegetables.  The journal will also  be help teach employees how to read labels.

Every time the journals are distributed, a talk by a nutritionist is given. In this way, employees get to know more about nutrition and get familiar with Nestle products.
