The Nestlé Coffee Buying Centre in Sawi in Chumphon province was established in 1991 to purchase local, good quality Robusta coffee beans directly from farmers. The coffee farmers get better prices for their beans whilst Nestlé agronomists provide technical assistance and organize seminars for farmers to help them to improve the quality of their crops.

Responding to the needs of the growing numbers of farmers wanting to sell their coffee to Nestlé, five more stations were opened. In total, there are now six coffee buying stations in Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, and Krabi province, the main coffee growing areas.
