The Nestlé Community Environment Program (NCEP) was launched in 2003 and is now active in 19 sites across the Oceania region (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands). As well as our sites, the program involves local non-government organisations (NGOs), community organisations, schools and local government Councils.
NCEP’s main aims are:
To make a positive environmental impact in the communities in which Nestlé operates
To enhance and maintain Nestlé’s reputation as a careful steward of the environment
To foster positive relationships with local residents and organisations.
Each year Nestlé’s factories and distribution centres in Oceania donate cash grants to environment projects within their local communities.
The NCEP program has become a well-recognised sustainability program with local communities, businesses and with Nestlé employees. Project outcomes include:
44 Revegetation / regeneration / conservation projects leading to an estimated more than one million trees being planted.
13 water conservation projects including the installation of eight water tanks at schools.
6 waste reduction and education projects within schools and communities.
7 habitat protection and education projects that, among other achievements, supported the conservation of endangered species, such as the Spotted Quoll & Green Bell Frog.
