Health and Wellness programmes

  • Mieux Manger, Mieux Vivre

The operation "Mieux manger, mieux vivre" (Eat better, Live better), launched in 2005, targeted young secondary school pupils. Its aim was to take part in the fight against obesity and excess weight. Teaching tools were created by Nestlé’s expert dieticians and made available to volunteer workers of the French Red Cross. At the same time, training sessions in nutrition were organised for these volunteers.

79 Red Cross delegations have been trained in 41 departments. Four sequences are offered during these training sessions:

·         "To eat well is to live well" in the form of a photo language.

·         "Build your balance", work on the food pyramid.

·         "Move your body", becoming aware of the importance of physical activity.

·         "Eating well is such a pleasure", an activity concerning daily menus at home or out to eat.

This operation, which has the backing of the Education Ministry, has made it possible to train over 7,000 young people in schools or education centres since September 2005. More than 350 presentations by the French Red Cross have been given, mainly in lower secondary schools or leisure centres."
