Plattform Ernährung und Bewegung (Platform Nutrition and Physical Activity) has been founded in 2004 as a concerted action by the German Government, the Food Industry, the Health Care System and others. It was initiated to combine all activities to address the health threats of overweight and obese children.
In this context Nestlé Germany is cooperating with the Forschungsinstitut für Kinderernährung (Research Institute on Nutrition for Children) to develop recipes for hot meals to be offered in all-day schools and day care units. The servings should be nutritionally optimised, easy to be cooked, accepted by students and cost considerate. Recommendations for snacks are included as well. The aim is to offer balanced meals in schools and therefore demonstrate healthy nutritious choices.
“Nestlé Alete Doctor” is a medical hotline who is giving advice to parents 24 hours per day, seven days a week. It is mainly used in the evening hours, weekends and in times, when pediatric practices are closed. The service is offered on a chargefree telephone number in Germany, and can also be called when travelling abroad (telephone fees are charged in this case).
