In 2000, Nestlé Portugal launched a Nutrition Program, named “Nestlé Apetece-me”  (“I fancy it”).
With this Program, Nestlé Portugal launched  the Nestlé Nutrition Prize, in cooperation with Sociedade Portuguesa de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação (SPCNA), with regular editions as from 2001. Their aim is to evaluate scientific work of recognized quality dealing with themes of Food and Nutrition. This prize is open to professionals, researchers and students. The Nestlé Nutrition Prize, has the amount of € 10.000,00 for the best scientific work.

In 2004 Nestlé signed a 5-year agreement with Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (Human Motility University) to sponsor a scientific investigation named Programa PESO (Weight Program) on preventing obesity.
