Programa Oeiras Solidária – Nestlé is a founding member of this Programme, which could better be described as a social responsibility investment club. Under the chairmanship of Oeiras Town Hall (where Nestlé’s headquarters are located) and along with several other local and multinational companies, the members decide which relevant social projects with impact on local community (previously selected by the Town Hall) should be sponsored and what kind of contribution should be given (financial, material, volunteer work, etc.). This project is unique in Portugal.

Prémio Municipal de Imprensa Gazeta de Oeiras – This is an award presented every year by Nestlé Portugal in cooperation with the town hall where our headquarter are located. The Prize for the winning journalist is two-day visit to Switzerland, the Nestlé Head Offices, the Food Museum "Alimentarium" and the Nestlé Research Centre. The main objective of this Prize is to provide a young journalist with a better knowledge and different perspective of our Company.

Water Conservation - In 2004, our Avanca Factory in collaboration with the University of Aveiro renewed the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Avanca factory, as part of our strategy on Sustainable Development. The new WWTP has a Biological Treatment Line, with  two SBR’s (Sequencing Batch Reactors) for removal of organic matter. Projects of this kind, which benefit Nestlé’s operations as well as the local community, are characteristic of many of the Company’s activities.
