The Cheerleading Competition is an initiative of the Health Promotion Team of the Ministry of Health (MOH). The objective is to introduce lifestyle programmes that promote physical activity, good nutrition and team work among adolescents’ aged 12-19 years.
Activities involve formal information sessions aimed at changing behaviour through nutrition talks, cheerleading techniques and life skills, which promote good manners and proper hygiene.
Dancing and skipping competitions were added to the Healthy Lifestyle Programme in 2008, while performances were also complemented by singing cheers as a part of the routines. The workshops and competitions are sponsored by Nestlé through the SUPLIGEN® brand.
