Respect for the environment and commitment to sustainable development are an integral part of Nestlé's philosophy. Therefore, Nestlé Pakistan follows an integrated approach to policy and decision making in which long term economic growth, environmental protection and social achievements are not incompatible, but are complementary and mutually dependent.
This is achieved in a number of ways. First, Nestlé fully complies with government regulations as well as Nestlé’s internal guidelines within its manufacturing facilities. The objective is to maximise eco-efficiency – that is to maximise the production of goods, while at the same time, minimising consumption of resources and reducing waste and emissions. The focus is on reduction of gas emissions, wastewater reduction and treatment, finding packaging solutions to minimise solid waste generation and training and awareness programmes for factory workers.
Nestlé Pakistan also frequently contributes to World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Environmental Programmes and sponsors seminars and television programmes to create public awareness about environment related issues.
Nestlé Pakistan recently sponsored operation clean-up of K-2 Base Camp (see picture above).
