Alcon Cares - Patient Assistance Programme

Alcon, as a global leader in eye care, is committed to improving universal eye health, by increasing the capacity, quality and sustainability of health care systems through the company’s own contributions, surgical skills training and market development activities.

Alcon founded its Global Medical Missions Programme more than 40 years ago, donating over $35 million in pharmaceutical and surgical products which have supported more than 1’200 medical missions providing eye care in underdeveloped countries.

Furthermore, over the past 3 years, Alcon donated $136 million in financial and product support to charitable organisations.

In the United States, Alcon’s Patient Assistance Programme, known as Alcon Cares, provided 30’000 economically disadvantaged patients with drugs to prevent vision loss in 2008.

The Alcon Foundation aims to help achieve the following goals:

  • Advance eye health education
  • Improve the quality of eye care
  • Increase access for patients to sight-saving drugs and technologies

Among our partners in our efforts to support this commitment are ORBIS International, Mercy Ships, Project HOPE, Surgical Eye Expeditions International, Inc. and Prevent Blindness America.
