The main causes of child obesity are an unbalanced diet and lack of physical activity. In order to contribute to addressing both these issues, Nestlé launched its NIDO Crece Light, a skimmed milk powder for children, in Chile. Secondly, in order to help communicate the relevance of exercise in the prevention of obesity, NIDO Crece Light developed the Kids Love Gym programme. This initiative means to show mothers that to exercise with their children is yet another way to express how much they love them. An exercise routine was developed to be practiced by mothers with their children, as well as in schools, fitness centres, etc. This gives mothers an opportunity to encourage their children to exercise regularly and to teach them healthy lifestyle habits at an early age.
