Since 1991 Nestlé partners with the Nutrir Foundation which helps underpriviledged children aged 6-12 years to overcome malnutrition. They are taught nutrition education through games and play.
The Foundation Nutrir was created in 1981 by Dr. Roberto Rueda who organised a group of businessmen to fight the serious situation of malnutrition in Bogota.
At present, the Foundation has extended its scope, aiming to solve nutritional problems of children from underpriviledged families by educating them on nutrition and hygiene not only in Bogota but also in rural and other urban communities. A balanced nutritional diet will enable these children to successfully complete their physical growth and mental development processes.
Furthermore, in the frame of this programme, nutrition and hygiene education is also provided to adult communities around Nestlé factories, namely Florencia, Dosquebradas and Bugalagrande.
