The Nutrition Counsel is a practical workshop providing nutritional education to families with children that suffer from, or at high risk of malnutrition in San Juan de Lurigancho (SJL).
San Juan de Lurigancho is Peru’s largest district. 70% of the population in SJL is effected in belonging to what is referred to as the D and E socio-economic levels and presents 25% of infant malnutrition - in some places even reaching 62%.
Over the last five years, the Nutrition Counsel has conducted over 30,000 interventions including home visits, workshops for mothers and children and school visits. From these interventions, 9'000 mothers have improved their family's nutritional and health habits.
