Nutrition in Uruguay

Nutrition Education in Better Hospital Conditions

The goal of the project "Esta vez no ganás vos" or "You do not win this time" is to improve the conditions of children and their mothers using the services of the Pereira Rossell Hospital, as well as to educate them on Nutrition, Health and Wellness.

Meetings with mothers and children are organised in order to advise them on these topics, with specific information regarding nutrition for sick children.

In order to improve the conditions of their stay, we fundraise for the "Fundación de Amigos del Centro Hospitalario Pereira Rossell" (Pereira Rossell's Friends Foundation). The Pereira Rossell Hospital is the biggest public hospital in Uruguay, with special caring units for children. During the year 2007, there were a total of 174'429 patients consulting at the hospital, and 15'365 admissions.

The Foundation works specifically with children (and their mothers) who have to stay at the hospital for treatment for long periods of time. The Foundation has built a special area where children and their mothers can play, read, learn and have personalised assistance during their stay at the hospital.

This initial fundraising will provide the Foundation with means to develop more activities in the spaces used by the Foundation inside the hospital. Fundraising is done by means of web registering. By registering on www.nestle.com.uy, users are able to donate $10 to the Foundation. This online campaign was supported by online advertising as well as press and radio advertising.
