Nutrition in Japan

MILO Food Education Classes

In partnership with non-profit organisation Niiza Childcare Support Network, Nestlé Japan is commited to the organisation of MILO Food Education Classes for mums and kids of 6 years and above since 2006.

The objective of this nationwide programme is to educate mums and kids about the importance of food which brings energy and allows children's healthy growth. Classes are given by a dietician.

Participants acquire both the knowledge of nutritional balance for dishes and the appropriate amount of food required each day. Various activities support this programme:

  • Workshops for parents

These are based on the Food balance guide issued by the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry of Japan, who have developed a new programme tool named “Buffet kit”.

  • Kids programme

Where they learn the importance of exercise through dance practices which they later perform in front of their parents.

  • MILO time

Children are offered MILO refreshments and benefit from a Q&A session with the dietician.
