In 2000, Nestlé Portugal launched the nutrition programme “Nestlé Apetece-me” (“I fancy it”) and the Nestlé Nutrition Award, in cooperation with the Sociedade Portuguesa de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação (SPCNA).
- The aim of the NESTLE NUTRITION AWARD is to evaluate scientific work of recognised quality dealing with themes of Food and Nutrition. This prize is open to professionals, researchers and students and amounts to 10'000 € for the best scientific work.
Furthermore, in 2004 Nestlé signed a 5-year agreement with the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (Human Motility University) to sponsor a scientific investigation named Programa PESO (Weight Programme) on preventing obesity.
- The NESTLE APETECE-ME programme was relaunched in 2008 in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
The project involves educational communication for children aged between 6 and 15, promoting basic nutrition knowledge and healthy lifestyles awareness.
In 2008, new educational materials were produced and the Apetece-me website www.apetece-me.pt was launched. Upon access to this website, teachers, students and educators can find information related to this project as well as the manuals used in the classroom. The programme was also communicated to the schools’ health teams present in Health Centres.
To date, “Apetece-me” ("I fancy it") reached more than 300'000 students from 6 to 15 years old and 34'936 teachers.
