MDG 8: Develop a global partnership for development in Singapore

Nestlé Singapore has been championing youth sports development in Singapore since the 1950s through its MILO brand. MILO reaches out to the grassroots and school children through sponsorship of various popular events like track and field, swimming, basketball and soccer, holding mass participation each year.

 

As a strong advocate of sports and sportsmanship in Singapore, MILO gives its support through partnerships with the Ministry of Education in its Singapore School Sports Council Programmes and the Singapore Sports Council, nurturing young Singaporean athletes into the sports heros of tomorrow. MILO continues to rally and drive national support and nurture a cheering culture for Singapore's competing athletes at international and regional sporting events such as the South East Asian Games, the Olympics and the upcoming world's first Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore in 2010.

 

Nestlé Singapore is also a strong supporter of endurance sports through its brand POWERBAR, which sponsors and supports world class endurance events such as the Singapore IRONMAN 70.3 and Singapore Sundown Marathon that attract local and international athletes' participation.

 

On a grassroots level, POWERBAR reaches out to Singapore's triathlete community through its investment in communicating and creating awareness on basic sports nutrition knowledge through seminars, classes and talks conducted at events and expositions throughout the year.
